Autism, Vaccines and the CDC: The Wrong Side of History
01-27-2009
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and David Kirby Even as the evidence connecting America's autism epidemic to vaccines mounts, dead-enders at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) -- many of whom promoted the current vaccine schedule and others with strong ties to the vaccine industry -- are trying to delay the day of reckoning by creating questionable studies designed to discredit any potential vaccine-autism link and by derailing authentic studies. On January 12, a cadre of mid-level health bureaucrats left over from the Bush administration ignored Federal requirements for advance notice in order to vote to quietly strip vaccine research studies from funding allocated by Congress in the Combating Autism Act (CAA) of 2006. Members of Congress had said that this money should be used to study the vaccine-autism connection
Exposure to arsenic significantly reduces intellectual function

A recent study of children exposed to arsenic-tainted water in Araihazar, Bangladesh found that water arsenic was significantly associated with reduced intellectual function.

comments and Links Fluoridation with High Lead Levels in Children

Hi Everybody, Thanks to Teresa Binstock for this article. It seems increasing clear that it is necessary to change the way we think of medicine. We need to focus on prevention and the treatment of the cause of disease. It would be financially responsible to initiate a yearly testing program so that children who are suffering from heavy metal exposure could be detoxed and given a real chance at education and a productive life. We also need to address the environment in which we raise our children so they do not become our scapegoats for cheap products and quick fixes. CCA wood is a prime example of the governments failure to act on well documented information. Our schools bear witness to the results of the toxic environments our children have been given. Learning disabilities, A.D.D. , depression ,apathy and violence. We are going to pay the cost one way or the other either in help or through our courts, prisons, social services and institutions. They are the future and they deserve to be protected and cared for. Take care everybody and please keep safe. Deborah

The First Six Years
07-25-2003
The First Six Years is a grass roots organization whose primary mandate is the promotion of optimal social, physical, and environmental conditions for the development of healthy productive children. We achieve this goal through the use of environmental monitoring and surveillance and public and professional education. We recognize that the first six years of a child’s life is an important period of brain and nervous system development. Children during this period of rapid growth are highly susceptible to the toxic influences of environmental threats such as lead, mercury, PCBs, pesticides and ionizing radiation

The developing brain and the environment: an introduction.

Children's environmental health has climbed to a critical position as we launch the new millennium. This monograph marks a significant milestone in the evolution of this emerging discipline.
Toxic threats to neurologic development of children

Learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, developmental delays, and emotional and behavioral problems are among childhood disabilities of increasing concern

Parallels between attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and behavioral deficits produced by neurotoxic exposure in monkeys.
pub med
Whereas the etiology of ADHD is multifactorial, the possibility that neurotoxic agents in the environment contribute to the incidence of ADHD warrants attention.
Chronic low-dose MPTP in nonhuman primates: a possible model for attention deficit disorder.

We suggest that chronic low-dose MPTP induced cognitive dysfunction in primates may not only be a model for the cognitive disturbances that accompany Parkinson's disease but may also aid in understanding the cognitive dysfunction seen in children with ADD.
child with chronic manganese exposure from drinking water.
pub med
Psychometric testing scores showed normal IQ but unexpectedly poor verbal and visual memory. These findings are consistent with the known toxic effects of manganese, although a causal relationship cannot necessarily be inferred.
Behavioral deficits in rats with minimal cortical hypoplasia induced by methylazoxymethanol acetate.

Methylazoxymethanol-lesioned animals with mild cortical hypoplasia remained measurably hyperactive and may serve as a model for the study of neurotransmitter and neuropathologic abnormalities associated with hyperactivity in children with microcephaly.
Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children: rationale for its integrative management.

The exact etiology is unknown; genetics plays a role, but major etiologic contributors also include adverse responses to food additives, intolerances to foods, sensitivities to environmental chemicals, molds, and fungi, and exposures to neurodevelopmental toxins such as heavy metals and organohalide pollutants.
Are we on the threshold of a new theory of disease
Pub Med
Accumulating evidence suggests that this disease process might underlie a broad array of medical illnesses including chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, depression, asthma, the unexplained illnesses of Gulf War veterans, multiple chemical sensitivity, and attention deficit disorder.

bipolar, cerebella, toxic metals: TIME Magazine article

This post is a bit technical, but poisoning children is a sad commentary on Empire's ways with the environment, with regulatory agencies that abuse the concept "safe" levels of numerous toxins -- and the medical-research establishment deflects attention away from pollution by blaming parents via the shibolleth "must be genetic".
The effects of chronic arsenic exposure from drinking water on the neurobehavioral development in adolescence.
08-24-2003
This cross-sectional study examined the possible influence on the development of cognitive function among adolescents due to long-term arsenic exposure. Forty-nine junior school students drinking arsenic-containing well water and 60 controls matched with age, sex, education, body height, body weight, body mass index, and socioeconomic status were compared.
