PETITION
TO THE HOUSE OF COMMONS
IN PARLIAMENT ASSEMBLED

We, the undersigned residents of Canada,

draw the attention of the House to the following:

THAT arsenic and chromium are currently listed as 'toxic' under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999;

AND THAT there is increasing evidence that Canadians and their environment are being poisoned by exposure to these compounds through (among other things) the use and misuse of "Chromated Copper Arsenic (CCA) Pressure Treated Wood";

THEREFORE, pursuant to the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA), other relevant legislation, and relying on the application of the Precautionary Principle, your petitioners call upon Parliament to immediately ban the use of these compounds in pressure treated wood products.
